Pygmy Date Palms are native to south Asia. This is a slow-growing slender palm tree, reaching 6 to 10 feet tall with leaves that are 25-50’’ long, slightly drooping, and gray-green in color. Its flowers are small, yellow, and edible. It has become a popular landscaping ornamental plant in tropical to warm temperate climate areas. It can be cultivated where temperatures never fall below 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Pygmy date palms can be grown both indoors and outdoors in full sun or shade. They tolerate a wide range of soils, and moderate water.
